Hypnotherapy FAQ's?

What is Hypnotherapy?

Simply, hypnosis is a state of mind or trance where the brain is in focus and the unconscious mind is in control. This is a common state of mind to be in, you actually naturally go into these focused states throughout the day for example , when you drive from A to B and cant really remember the journey or whether you went through a red light.

This focused state of consciousness is safe and allows us to work on learnt programs that are stored in the unconscious mind and used automatically without us having to think about it. When those learnt programs  for example, negative thinking, feeling sad, anxious, or fears, phobias are not related to the world we live in now, they will cause problems. When these programs are outdated they may stop us living the life we deserve and reaching the goals we want. This can cause mental health problems, unhealthy behaviours like, poor self-esteem, anxiety, depression, anger and  even over or under eating and addictions. At Healthy Brain Mind & Body we use techniques that use very light trance  where you are often talking, with your eyes closed, allowing your unconscious mind to lead the way. These hypnotherapy techniques include Subconcious Rapid Elimination Therapy (SRET) Interactive Lucid Dreaming, Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), and Neurolingusitic Programming (NLP)

The majority of the protocols are extremely content free, thus allowing the Unconscious Mind to resolve the root of the problem rather than the surface level. Its key task is to keep the client safe, so will therefore create its own metaphors and analogies to replace serious traumatic memories, reducing the risk of the trauma-based memories causing further distress.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnosis can help you change attitudes, perceptions and behaviours, that the unconscious has learnt from past events It can be effective in treating a range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety & self esteem
  • Chronic pain
  • Fears and phobias
  • Smoking and other addictions
  • Insomnia
  • Panic attacks
  • Stress

What Happens in a Session?

During a session the therapist will decide which technique is best for your required goal We then help the mind to relax and focus allowing the unconscious mind to take a step forward and the conscious mind to take a step back.  As the unconscious mind works in metaphors and therefore we work content free, with the therapist guiding and working with the unconscious mind allowing it to clear trauma, and beliefs that are keeping you stuck with the behaviours you no longer want. Whether this is anxious thoughts, low self esteem, panic attacks or ptsd, unhealthy habits or addictions or fears and phobias

How Many Sessions?

Because everyone’s brain is different, and everyones beliefs, trauma and cause of the unwanted behaviours are different its impossible to say how many sessions you will need to clear the unwanted behaviour. For some clients it may be only 1 but for others it may take  10 sessions to stabilize the neurological system, and peel away the layers causing the negative behaviour. You are given back up audio’s to continually strengthen the changes in between sessions.
